What ZGR is
ZGR makes plain lace-up canvas sneakers for women and men, one white sneaker with a wipe-clean upper, and two winter boots. We have been at it since 2016.
One shoe to start with
The first ZGR shoe was a canvas low top: flat laces, a rubber toe cap and a vulcanized sole, in black, white and red. It is still in the range, and most of what came after is that same shoe changed in one direction at a time.
Cut higher, it became the classic high top. Given a padded toe and a memory foam insole, it became the padded toe low top and high top. Stitched with flowers or maple leaves, or cut from mesh lace, it became the embroidered pairs.
Who the shoes are for
People who want a sneaker to go with jeans, a summer dress or work trousers, and who would rather buy a second color than save up for one pair. That is why prices sit around twenty dollars, and why a single style can come in a dozen shades.
The men’s side is smaller: a high top in a long run of colors, a classic low top, and a white sneaker in synthetic leather for anyone who wants white shoes that wipe clean.
Winter
Canvas is a poor choice for slush, so for the cold months there are two boots: an ankle boot and a mid calf boot, both with a side zipper, a faux fur lining and a water-resistant synthetic leather upper. They are made for city winters and wet sidewalks. We do not sell them as fully waterproof, and we do not give them a temperature rating.
